Synopsis
A study of the elements of tortious liability in negligence, including duty of care, breach of duty, causation and remoteness of damage, and defences to liability. Attention will be paid to the general issue of the balance of risk and benefit in establishing liability and to particular problems caused by nervous shock. A range of other torts will also be considered including nuisance, trespass, and defamation.
