Synopsis

This course is designed to offer students the opportunity to carry out a minor research project in an area of choice that may include Child Care, Retirement and Ageing, Sports Management, Sport Science and Health related areas. Emphasis will be placed upon evaluation of the effectiveness of various procedures, issues, interests and trends in the chosen area, to ensure best practice in service delivery. This course will include 40 hours of research project practicum and may include professional experience.

Learning Objectives

" To complete a minor research project with the principles of high quality research guided by Australian Early Childhood Code of Ethics. Ethical research based on informed consent, and making a contribution to the broader social good. Purposeful research which has clear aims and justifiable strategies for working towards these aims. Well designed research which is systematic, transparent, contextual research which acknowledges its own philosophical, theoretical, policy and social contexts. Imaginative research which is innovative and original. Equitable research acknowledging the biases, interests and concerns of the researcher. Careful and credible research which documents the limited scope and its design limitations, and follows accepted principles for framing research questions, investigating them, analysing the findings and drawing conclusions."
