Synopsis
This subject introduces students to criminalistics, criminal investigations, forensic science, evidence and expert testimony. It discusses techniques such as criminal profiling and DNA testing, to provide a basic appreciation of the field of forensic science and how it impacts on our understanding of crime and criminal justice processes. The subject is based around a series of guest lecturers in crime scene investigations, courtroom, laboratories, morgue and other specialised forensic environments.

Learning Objectives
The aim is to provide those studying biomedical or social sciences, law, journalism or indeed a range of related disciplines, with a basic appreciation of the burgeoning field of forensic science and how it impacts on our understanding of crime and criminal justice processes.
